Usui Reiki Master/Teacher Practitioner

Reiki is a simple and natural healing method for stress reduction and relaxation that also promotes healing by replenishing and rebalancing physical energy, health and inner harmony.  It is an ancient hands-on technique that is both gentle and powerful, and brings wholeness to both the giver and the receiver. Reiki, as it is practiced in the U.S. today, dates back to the teachings of Buddhist monk, Mikao Usui in Japan in the early 1920’s.

The word Reiki (pronounced, Ray-Key) is made of two Japanese words - Rei which means "God's Wisdom or the Higher Power" and Ki, which is "life force energy”.

The Reiki healing method is based on the foundation that “a life force energy” flows through every living thing.  Chi or Ki is that life force which is an important factor in emotions, thoughts, health and well-being.  The energy flows through the practitioner’s energy field and through his or her hands to you. The energy does not come from the practitioner; it comes through the practitioner from the universal source.  Reiki heals by flowing or passing through the impacted areas of the clients energy field and restoring harmony.  During a Reiki session people will sometimes experience the energy as heat, tingling, or pulsing where the practitioner places their hands on your body.  These sensations may be felt to move through your body to other locations--this is the energy flowing into you. Some people may not perceive any change at all.   Most people feel very relaxed and peaceful following a Reiki session.

While Reiki is spiritual in nature, it is not a religion. It has no dogma, and there is nothing you must believe in order to learn and use Reiki. In fact, Reiki is not dependent on belief at all and will work whether you believe in it or not.

The ability to use Reiki is not taught in the usual sense, but is transferred to the student during a Reiki class. This ability is passed on during an "attunement" given by a Reiki master, which allows the student to tap into an unlimited supply of "life force energy" to improve one's health and enhance the quality of life.

Reiki treats the whole person including body, emotions, mind and spirit creating many beneficial effects that include relaxation and feelings of peace, security and wellbeing. Reiki can be used for general wellness as well as for specific issues. Reiki works by assisting to reduce stress, which in turn, may create an environment within your body where healing may be more easily facilitated. In addition to working with pain and tension problems, Reiki may be effective for people who experience chronic headaches, insomnia, problems with fatigue, anxiety, pregnancy, and end-of-life issues.  Additionally, extensive research has shown Reiki to help relieve side-effects and promote recovery from medical and surgical procedures.   Reiki has been shown to be excellent support for virtually any medical problem.   It is a simple, natural and safe method of healing and self-improvement that everyone can use. And for healthy individuals, regular Reiki treatments are wonderful preventive therapy, as Reiki helps keep the body in a relaxed, and therefore healthier, state.
